A little ABOUT our founders

CHELSEA AND MEGAN

Aligned Psychology began as a shared vision between two therapists committed to raising the standards of trauma treatment. After working across multiple levels of care, including crisis centers, residential programs, PHP, IOP, and outpatient, we saw a clear gap in truly trauma-informed support. We set out to build a practice that reflects the quality of care we wished existed: specialized, ethical, and grounded in approaches that genuinely help people heal.

Through extensive training in EMDR, somatic therapy, and other trauma-focused modalities—along with doing our own personal work—we’ve built a business centered on empowerment, loving-kindness, and authenticity for our clients and therapists.

Our mission is simple: to offer trauma-informed care that helps clients reconnect with their values, inner wisdom, and most authentic selves, while creating a supportive, growth-oriented environment for the therapists who join us.

I specialize in supporting individuals and families through life transitions, personal growth, and healing, with the intention of guiding them back to presence and authenticity. My work weaves together attachment-based interventions, trauma-informed care, and somatic awareness, often enriched by principles of Buddhist psychology. My areas of focus include postpartum depression, grief and loss, trauma recovery, and mind–body wellness. I offer a client-centered, strengths-based approach, rooted in the belief that every individual is the expert of their own lived experience, and that healing emerges through mindful awareness, compassion, and authentic connection.

My personal journey has deeply shaped my work. After losing my parents, I became the full-time caregiver for my sister, my greatest teacher in unconditional love, courage, compassion and strength. Life’s challenges have taught me that although pain is inevitable, finding support and connection with another compassionate soul can make all the difference. It is my honor, and I am deeply grateful to walk with you on your journey toward presence and authenticity.

I specialize in supporting individuals, children, couples, and families who are navigating trauma, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or weighed down by what they’ve been carrying. My goal is to offer a warm, collaborative space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and begin to make sense of your experiences.

My style is compassionate, grounded, and centered around genuine human connection. I believe healing happens when we feel truly seen and understood, and I work to help even long-protected parts of you feel safe enough to soften. I draw from trauma-focused approaches—including somatic therapy, IFS (Parts Work), attachment-based therapy, art therapy, play therapy, and EMDR—to support you in feeling more grounded, empowered, and aligned with who you are.

I help individuals, couples, and families improve their relationships by uncovering the underlying issues that drive conflict and disconnection. My work centers on increasing self-awareness and personal responsibility, so clients can move out of repeating patterns and into relationships that feel more balanced, respectful, and emotionally secure.

In therapy, we focus on understanding what keeps challenges repeating and learning practical ways to respond differently. I support clients in recognizing emotional triggers, shifting unhealthy dynamics, and developing communication skills that foster greater understanding and closeness. This often includes untangling long-standing conflicts, addressing past experiences and trauma, and creating more effective, productive communication skills.

I work with clients facing relationship stress, anxiety, depression, and complex family dynamics. My approach emphasizes emotional insight, accountability, and healing from past experiences to support meaningful growth and more connected, fulfilling relationships.

I’m a therapist who helps individuals, couples, and families strengthen their relationships by addressing the deeper causes of conflict and fostering personal accountability. My work focuses on moving clients beyond entrenched patterns—often shaped by earlier experiences or trauma—toward relationships rooted in honesty, respect, and mutual care.

Together, we identify what keeps you stuck and practice new ways of relating that create clarity, closeness, and lasting change. I help you understand what drives recurring conflicts and guide you in taking practical steps to resolve them. For couples, this means ending repeat fights and replacing them with communication skills that truly work.

I support clients navigating relationship issues, depression, anxiety, and complex family dynamics. My approach emphasizes clear communication, personal responsibility, healing past wounds, and emotional growth—all to help you build stronger, healthier, and more connected relationships.

GET TO KNOW US
  • WHAT IS YOUR TREATMENT BACKGROUND?

Our founders have worked in trauma therapy residential, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment, crisis stabilization units, and private practice. Together, they have over 18 years of mental health treatment experience and over 14 years of post-graduate education.

Our therapists are not only clinicians but also active community leaders with years of experience in both community mental health and private practice. Beyond their formal education, each therapist has pursued specialized, individualized training to provide high-quality, trauma-informed care. Their expertise includes EMDR, somatic therapy, couples and family therapy, child and teen therapy, and art therapy. This combination of clinical skill, community involvement, and ongoing professional development allows our team to offer thoughtful, effective, and personalized support to every client.

  • WHY DID YOU START ALIGNED?

Our founders realized that trauma-informed care is often lacking in the broader mental health system, especially at the outpatient level. We wanted to fill that gap and bring our unique experience directly to the clients who need it most.

In building Aligned, we set out not only to provide high-quality trauma therapy, but also to empower and train exceptional trauma therapists. Creating a safe, supportive space for professional growth ensures that our clinicians continue to deepen their skills in EMDR, somatic therapy, and other specialized modalities.

This commitment to cultivating highly skilled therapists directly benefits our clients—offering them thoughtful, effective, and truly trauma-informed care that honors their healing journey.

  • WHY DID YOU FOCUS ON TRAUMA THERAPY?

We began our careers working with individuals experiencing severe symptoms, and it quickly became clear that something essential was missing in how their struggles were understood and treated. The deeper, core issues often went unaddressed, leaving people without the healing they truly needed. This realization led us to pursue advanced trauma-focused training so we could better identify and treat the root causes of clients’ pain and help them find lasting relief in their daily lives.

The therapists who join Aligned share this same passion. In their own work, they saw that many clients—whether individuals, couples, or families—were dealing with unaddressed trauma that affected their emotions, relationships, and daily lives. Many also noticed how unresolved trauma showed up in children and teens who didn’t yet have the words to explain what they were feeling. Wanting to offer more meaningful support, our therapists pursued specialized training in EMDR, somatic therapy, relational and couples therapy, and approaches tailored for kids and teens. This training allows them to help clients at a deeper level, offering not just short-term symptom relief, but real paths toward healing and healthier relationships.

We provide a variety of services to meet your individual needs.

We have training and expertise in many different modalities to provide trauma-informed care tailored to you.
